Gina began her professional journey with a Bachelor’s in Psychology, and during her collegiate years, she worked with adolescents with significant psychiatric diagnoses. She pursued her first Master’s Degree at Teachers College, Columbia University, where she studied Psychology and Education. Gina began a Doctorate in Psychology at the Florida Institute of Technology, focusing on neuropsychology and working with victims of sexual abuse and trauma. However, she began to question her career choice and ultimately left this program to spend some time working.
At the Columbia University Neurological Institute, Gina provided psychological testing to patients who had experienced brain trauma. During this time, she explored many career choices. It was after volunteering in Guatemala that she realized her passion lay in Social Work. Upon returning, Gina attended Columbia University School of Social Work, where she trained in practice with children and families. She obtained a post-master's certification in attachment in early child development and began her first job providing therapeutic intervention to children and teens in a mobile crisis setting in East Harlem, NY.
After experiencing too many commutes gone haywire and excited to return to Long Island to serve her home-based community, Gina took a job working with Northwell Health. She fell in love with providing clinical services to those diagnosed with addiction and concurrent mental health diagnoses. Gina was nominated for the Social Worker of the Year during her tenure here. She also began working with adolescents and adults in a private practice setting.
Candice has been trained by experts in the field on how to optimally diagnose and treat individuals with OCD and related disorders as well as comorbid diagnoses. She is a professional member of the International Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Foundation as well as the TLC Foundation for Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors. In addition to being a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Candice has a Masters degree in Nursing Education and has served as a Clinical Professor at Molloy College. Candice owns and runs her private practice in Rockville Centre, NY and is currently accepting new patients. She brings a warm and friendly demeanor to her practice and believes strongly in providing people with the necessary tools with which to not only combat their OCD, but to live a healthy and fulfilling life.
